DEMCS™ Branches, Stems, & Leaves Metaphor
Languages
Finally, we need to incorporate different languages into the system. Each different language can be represented as a differently colored stem at the end of a branch. This gives us a multi-colored tree.
This is not the same as using a different stem for a different topic on the same branch. Each differently colored stem covers the exact same topic, just in a different language. This does not mean all of the content will be the same for each language. Some things won't be translated into all languages and some people in some countries will think of better ways to explain things in their specific language that just won't be applicable to other languages. As long as all the content for a given topic covers only that specific topic regardless of the language, then everything will work out.
Summary:
- Each subject is kept in a different folder with sub-subjects in sub-folders under that one.
- Topics are really just a special folder under the subject folder which contains the files that comprise the actual content for the topic.
- Topic folders do not have any sub-folders for sub-subjects under them.
- There is only one topic folder per subject for each language.
- Content for each different language is kept in separate folders within the subject folder.
