Though it is still rough and only covers the fundamental constituents of a DEMML™ topic, the DEMML_0.1 schema is available for viewing here.

Created DEMML™ blog site.

It took me a while to get around to creating a blog but it is finally up. (Updated July 8, 2009)

Vetting

Vetting will be only a little more difficult than discussion and submission of content. All educators who have been certified to vet content for accuracy will be given a digital signature that they can use to sign their messages. This will typically be entered into their newsreader software as a signature block. When they have examined a submission and verified its accuracy they will simply reply to the submission message with a special code in the subject line to indicate that they have vetted the submission and apply their digital signature to verify that they sent the message. Special software will be running on the main central DEMML Usenet server to watch for these messages. When a specified number of Vet Reply messages have been posted the software will automatically pass the vetted content over to the main, central content server. It will then post a message as a reply to the original submission indicating that the content has been accepted and no further vetting is required. Special software running on the content server will then take the content, place it in the appropriate folder and update the index file on the server. This can all be accomplished using relatively simple software that does not communicate over the internet at all. Therefore it will be relatively secure. When mirror content servers connect to the main content server then the new content and index is distributed as described in Objective Three: Distribution.

In order for content to be considered Official DEMML Vetted content it must be submitted for vetting. However, it is also possible for professors, institutions, companies, or individuals to create their own content for their own use and for sharing with others. The focus of DEMML is educational material for general public use but companies could use the same standard to create training programs that are much more effective and much less expensive than any available today.
